Jennifer is a 12 year resident of the 4th ward. She and her husband, John, own his boyhood home in the Central City and live there along with their two children, Grace (7 years) and Jack (6 years).
Jennifer Olsen is a Lawyer with Olsen Law Office and her office is located in downtown Davenport in the historic Kimball-Stevenson house in central Davenport. She practices predominately in family law actions, and specialized in Adoption.
Olsen earned her Bachelors Degree from Augustana College in 1991majoring in Sociology and Social Work. She earned her Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of Iowa in 2001 and her Law Degree from Drake University in 2004. After graduating from Augustana, Olsen spent 7 years as a child welfare social worker employed by Bethany for Children and Families. She left Bethany for a Child Welfare Supervisory position at Lutheran Social Service of Iowa prior to attending Drake University. Jennifer’s husband, John has owned and operated a small furnace air duct cleaning business called Olsen Air Care since 1997. Jennifer also assists her husband in the management of the company.
Olsen is the co-chair and founder of the Taylor Heights Neighborhood Coalition which is a neighborhood organization located in Central West Davenport. The group was formed to promote city policy that supports revitalization of the central city neighborhood. The Taylor Heights group has been successful in bringing an entire central city neighborhood together to promote a healthier area of town. The people of the neighborhood have gotten to know each other and support each other.
Olsen’s involvement in her neighborhood and the creation of the Taylor Heights Neighborhood Coalition led to her involvement in local politics. Olsen is motivated by her passion for honoring the wishes of the people. She is driven by common sense approaches to policymaking and has been a very vocal advocate for the established neighborhoods of Davenport.
